Artists worldwide are channeling their creativity towards addressing the urgent issue of marine plastic pollution through innovative art pieces.
By transforming recovered ocean plastic into captivating sculptures and installations, these artists not only showcase the magnitude of plastic pollution but also advocate for environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Their artworks ignite conversations about consumerism, waste management, and the need for collective action to safeguard marine ecosystems.
With each unique creation, these artists urge viewers to rethink their plastic consumption habits and strive towards a more sustainable future, emphasizing the critical importance of preserving our oceans for future generations.

In our daily lives, we interact with plastics regularly, contributing both to the problem and the solution of plastic pollution. Each of us plays a role in how we handle waste, and our choices directly impact the amount of waste generated and how it is managed.
To address plastic pollution, it is crucial to engage in conversations about plastics, understanding their production, types, properties, and uses. The Salvage Art Project aims to facilitate these discussions, sharing knowledge about plastics and sustainable practices. Through the project, we encourage ongoing learning and community involvement, empowering individuals to lead initiatives in their local areas to combat plastic pollution.
Artists involved in the project demonstrate the value of ocean plastic, once marine pollution, showcasing its potential for meaningful transformation. Together, we can collectively work towards preserving and restoring the value of all plastic ever produced.

Plastics, with their versatility and affordability, have shaped our modern world, serving essential functions like food preservation, home insulation, and clothing production.
However, our inadequate management of plastics has led to severe environmental and health consequences. Plastic pollution contributes to health issues such as heart attacks and reproductive problems while endangering wildlife through entanglement and ingestion. This pollution threatens ecosystem services, incurring significant annual costs.
In 2010, millions of metric tonnes of plastic entered the oceans, resulting in billions of dollars in damages. Beyond monetary impact, plastic pollution also harms the environment aesthetically.
As stewards of the planet, we must consider the long-term implications of our reliance on plastics and its detrimental effects on future generations and the environment.
